Current Role Working With The Athletic Population
I am currently a PhD student at the University of Kentucky. I have a special passion for working with strength athletes, including powerlifters, weightlifters, and CrossFitters. I do work with the occasional collegiate athlete as well as many weekend warriors. I do athletic venue coverage for sporting events around Houston including soccer, gymnastics, triathlons, etc.
Professional Philosophy
I believe in empowering my patients with the education, confidence, and skills to manage their injuries. I believe that each person holds the strength and will within themselves to reach their goals and live life without restriction from pain or dysfunction.
Athletic Background
I grew up playing a multitude of sports but mainly focused on volleyball from high school through college. After college I fell in love with CrossFit and was an active coach and athlete with that community for about 5 years. In 2017 I transitioned to strictly weightlifting and competed in the sport for about a year. I now do a combination of CrossFit, weightlifting, and bodybuilding for my daily programming.
Academic Background and Professional Training
I graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelors in Exercise Science in 2012. I then graduated from the University of Kentucky with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2015. Following graduation I was accepted into a sports residency program at Houston Methodist Sugar Land for the following year. In 2017 I passed my board exam to become a Sports Certified Specialist (SCS) and in 2018 completed my fellowship training in manual therapy (FAAOMPT) from IAR.
Other certifications include;
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Systemic Dry Needling
CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
USA-Weightlifting Level 1
